At Third Coast Events Inc., we understand that our business is about relationships, and often the strongest relationships are built outside of the office. Effective networking is essential to our success because an integrated network can yield important synergy between existing and potential clients, market leaders, business innovations or technology breakthroughs. Here are a few tips for effective networking which we share and encourage among Third Coast Events, Inc. team members:
- Be Yourself. If you’re naturally inquisitive, serious or witty, let that shine through when you meet people. Show your true self and take interest in what other people are doing by offering insights or help, if you can.
- Give of Yourself Without Expecting Anything in Return. When you offer help and time, without expecting anything in return, the genuineness of the gesture will quickly build trust, which is key to effective relationships.
- Approach Networking as a Puzzle. Think about networking as a giant puzzle: your connections are pieces of the puzzle, and when you connect the right pieces, the bigger picture is revealed. If, when you’re networking, someone mentions a need they have, think about one of your connections, or pieces to fit with that need. In the process, you’ll get more pieces for your own puzzles and needs.
At Third Coast Events, Inc., we encourage everyone at our firm to become great at networking for the benefits and opportunities it can bring to them and also to our team.
